Prof. Nelly Ognyanova, Dr. Habil. is one of the founders and the first head of the Department of "European Studies" (1999-2007, 2011-2015). She is an expert in Media Law and teaches "European Media Law" and "New media and culture of participation". Director of the Master's program "E-Europe". She is in charge of the mandatory student internships.
She participates in the implementation of the EU law in the field of media and electronic communications and has been Head and member of working groups for the introduction of regulations for radio, television, cinema etc. She has been a member of the Bulgarian electronic media and telecommunications regulators between 1998 and 2001, a representative in the Standing Committee On Transfrontier Television, a representative in the Contact Committee on the Audiovisual Media Services Directive. Member of the Legal Council of the President of the Republic (2012-). Member of the Commission for the implementation of the Code of Ethics of Bulgarian media.
