Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rumiana Kolarova is one of the founders of the European Studies Department at Sofia University. She teaches courses in various departments of the university, such as Political Studies, European Studies, Public Administration, Journalism.
She is an associate professor of Comparative Politics at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ", Head of the Political Studies Department, head of the European Integration and EU Diplomacy MA Programme at the European Studies Department. She has specialised in London (London School of Economics and Political Science), New York (New School for Social Research) and Florence (European University Institute). She was a Jean Monnet lecturer in EU Political Process for between 2001 and 2006.
She is Chair Person of the Board of the Center of Women’s Studies and Policies, member of the Managing Board of the Bulgarian Political Science Association. She has participated in a number of academic projects at the Robert Schumann EUI Center, Florence, the Council of Europe, the University of Chicago, Oxford University, the Centre for the Study of Constitutionalism in Eastern Europe.
Assoc. Prof. Kolarova is the author of over 50 research publications and more than 300 publications in the press. She is currently secretary of education, science and civil society of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. In the period of August - November 2014 she was the ex-officio Minister of Education and Science.
